Energy and Mining
The 1st and 2nd units of Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant produce 150 MW and 3rd and 4th units produce 160 MW. Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant, which is the first privatized thermal power plant in Turkey, consists of 4 units.
In accordance with the contract signed with TKİ on 22.12.1995, Park Teknik produces about 2,500,000 ±20% tons of coal from the underground coal mine in order to provide coal to units 3 and 4 of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant. The capacity of being a party to the contract for 15 years was assigned from TKİ to EÜAŞ upon the decision of YPK.
The second largest Trona (natural soda ash) ore bed in the world is being operated by Eti Soda, which is a company of Ciner Group. "Soda ash" is one of the world’s first ten elements most used in this industry and this mineral provides a significant foreign currency inflow for our country, since 90% of it is being exported.
Ciner Group began its investments in the mining sector in 1991 with the establishment of Park Enerji. The main interest area of Park Enerji is to enrich lignite coals and to ensure it is converted into an environmentally friendly fuel with higher calories that can be used both in the industry and thermal power plants and houses.
Park Elektrik, 35% of which is publicly traded and listed in the Istanbul Stock Exchange (İMKB), is listed in the “Second 500 Largest Industrial Organizations” list of ISO. The company was the 198th listed. The company was in the "Second 500 Largest Industrial Organizations" list for 2010 and the 4th company among those engaged in the same sector. Park Elektrik is also listed among the tax champions of Turkey.
Silopi Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. was established in Şırnak/Silopi in 2003. Its purpose is to install an electrical production plant and to market the electrical energy produced.
Park Toptan Elektrik was established in 2003 in Söğütözü/Ankara to carry out wholesale, import, export and direct sales to free consumers, and trade of electrical energy and capacity in accordance with electrical energy regulations.
The company won the tender opened by the General Directorate of Divriği Hekimhan Madenleri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. for enrichment of an unutilized 3.5 million tons of powder iron ore and 150,000 tons of undersized powder ore on its site and signed a Build-Operate-Transfer project for 15 years, thereby providing a significant contribution to the economy of the country by processing this iron ore, which had been unutilized for over 20 years.
About 100% of the shares of the company established on April 4, 1990 were acquired by Park Cam A.Ş., a group company, from "Rio Tinto Minerals Development, Ltd.," an American company, on December 30, 2010.
